- LCD had some missing columns at the borders:
-> repaired
- Missing display cover:
-> Cleaned old glue
-> Attached replica part
- Bottom end of power PCB is covered in blue stuff from leaking batteries:
-> Soaked and scrubbed PCB in vinegar, then in alcohol
-> The thin copper wire of one of the transformer coils was rotten away from pin 8. I managed to reconnect it. Cleaned the tranaformer and sealed all tiny wires with solder mask.
-> Removed all components from PCB and applied new solder mask.
-> Traces on power PCB are broken. Fixed broken traces with copper wire.
- Headphone jack is covered in blue stuff:
-> Cleaned with vinegar and alcohol
- The two bottom battery contact pieces are corroded:
-> Replaced with replica parts
- The two screws holding the headphone jack were corroded
-> Replaced
- The glue of the sticky tape between display and shell dissolved and made a mess:
-> Removed the sticky tape
- The blue print on the shell (Nintendo GAMEBOY, START, SELECT, A, B) dissolves in alcohol
much more easily compared to other Gameboys and smears across the shell.
-> Could be a sign that the shell got swapped with an non-original part.
But except for the dissolving of paint and glue of the sticky tape it looks
genuine.
